Alaska College & Career Advising Corps
How we started |
The Alaska College and Career Advising Corps (ACAC) is a program within the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE) which places recent college graduates from Alaska in high schools to help increase the college-going rates of low-income, first generation and minority students. The program began in 2009 at Service High School and has since spread to 46 high schools in Kodiak, Bethel, Kenai, Nikiski, Fairbanks, Seward, Delta Junction, Soldotna, and several rural village schools across the state.

YOUR College
|
My name is Cierra Mickens and I am very excited to be in my second year as the Service High School College & Career Guide. I was raised in Eagle River, Alaska and attended Eagle River High School, graduating in 2009. In 2013, I graduated from Washington State University with two Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice. Following my time here at Service, I plan to attend law school. My goal, first and foremost is to help the students of Service High School reach their goals, whatever they may be. It is my hope that in my short time here I have been able to inspire at least a few students to pursue their aspirations.
